The Sardianian version of Alcatraz. The prison in the island hosted till 1997, when it was closed, some of the most dangerous criminals, including Mafia boss Totò Riina.

The island is now wildlife and marine preserve.

Asinara means "the island of donkeys" and you cannot miss these animals during your visit.

You can visit the island leaving from Porto Torres or from Tanca Manna port in Stintino. Once there you can make free trekking, or rent bikes and even ride a horse. Excursions with park official guides are also available.
